Announcing Chloe Lynn Anderson

So, Monday morning I went into the doctor's office expecting to be induced (as we had scheduled) since I did not go into labor over the weekend. To our great surprise, my doctor had changed his mind and said he would not induce me. I was shocked and a little disappointed (I had been all geared up and looking forward to going into labor!). He checked me and I was dialted to a four; then, he stripped my membranes once more. He ordered me to walk around the mall and call him later on that day.

I left feeling very frustrated, but determined. I sent Brian off to school and told him I would call if I progressed at all, and my mom and I headed off to the mall. We walked and walked and walked and walked and then walked some more. I started to feel some contractions but nothing really regular or intense at all. We decided to head home and get something to eat. While my mom prepared lunch I ran the stairs for as long as I possibly could and then walked around some more. After lunch I did jumping jacks, squats, ran in place and even took Peanut on a walk. NOTHING! I was actually feeling more at the mall so we decided to head back there. When we arrived, Brian called to see if anything had happened and decided to meet us at the mall. By this time I was so tired and my legs were hurting so much more than the contractions that I thought I wouldn't even have the energy to go into labor if I did. After walking around for another hour and not feeling much-except for very aching legs and some minor contractions-I decided to call my doctor and see what I should do. I told him what was going on and he told me to call labor and delivery and let them know that I might be in labor and that he would meet me there. I reluctantly called and told them how I was feeling and they expressed that I could come in if I wanted but that they usually don't have you come in until you are breathing through contractions. I decided to go in with hopes that my doctor would just get me started.

When I arived at the hospital I was so distraught that my efforts had not produced results and was convinced they were just going to send me home. I was so tired of anticipating and anticipating and have no results that I just wanted to go home and just let things happen. So I undressed and got up on the table and had the belts strapped to my tummy and prepared to be sent home. As I sat there I started to pee. I told the nurse, "oh my godness, I think I just peed my pants!" And then it just kept coming and coming and coming, and it finally occurred to me that my water had just broke!! Hallelujah! I would not be sent home!!

After that I walked around the hospital some more to get myself to progress--much happier, I might add. I went into the hospital at about 5:00 pm (eventually gave birth to Chloe Lynn at 1:14 A.M). At about 9:00 pm I finally got the epideral when I was dialted to a six, and was very nervous. My anesthesiologist was not very nice, unfortunately, and so my experience wasn't the greatest. For some reason it did not numb all of my nerves and I was in quite a bit of pain when I hit transition. The doctors ordered for the anesthesiologist to come back in and give me more. He rudely and reluctantly did, but it did not work for quite some time. I finally started to feel some relief right before I began pushing. Pushing was the best part by far! I loved it. I could do that over and over. I pushed for about 20 minutes before Chloe was born.

It really was such an amazing experience! Brian and I are so grateful for our sweet little girl. She is so beautiful and sweet. She doesn't really cry much but has quite the raptor squeal :)--I think that she gets that from her mommy! We love her so much and are so happy!! Thank you to everyone for all the support and calls! We love and appreciate you all so much and are happy to share this wonderful event with all of you.

Wow, she is absolutely beautiful! Congrats! I can't wait to talk to you. I don't want to call and bug you since I know each minute is precious, but give us a call if you can. I hope you guys are doing well and getting into the swing of things. Just sleep whenever she does, nothing else matters!

Mindy, she's adorable. It's funny her name is Chloe because Troy and Kristin had a baby in October and named her Chloe and I swear they could be identical twins - I saw the pic and thought, "Wait, I think that's my niece!"

She's so beautiful, I hope you and Bri are happy and getting rest.

And...I get the epidural thing, too. My doc gave it to me wrong twice, and I ended up delivering without one. Worst pain ever, but so worth it. Take care.
